The 6-day Lemosho Route is a fast-tracked version of the scenic western approach to Kilimanjaro. While still offering beautiful landscapes and varied terrain, this itinerary is best suited for trekkers who are confident in their fitness and have prior altitude experience. The trail covers lush rainforests, expansive moorlands, and alpine deserts before reaching the summit at Uhuru Peak.

Your trek begins with a drive to Londorossi Gate for registration, followed by a 4×4 ride to the Lemosho trailhead. You’ll hike through dense rainforest rich in flora and fauna to reach Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp for your first night under the stars.

Today is a long but scenic trek. You’ll climb through forest and heath, cross the Shira Ridge, and traverse the Shira Plateau. Instead of stopping at Shira 1, you’ll continue to Shira 2 Camp, helping to make up for the shortened itinerary.

A long and demanding day, you’ll begin by climbing the Barranco Wall, then continue through undulating terrain to Karanga Camp, where most trekkers would normally overnight. However, in this 6-day version, you’ll push onward to Barafu Camp, the base camp for your summit attempt. Rest and prepare for the final ascent tonight.

Around midnight, begin your ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. The climb is steep, cold, and physically demanding but incredibly rewarding. After a sunrise celebration at the summit, you’ll descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue all the way down to Mweka Camp in the forest zone.
